NME, UK's most interesting music magazine had its annual NME award show yesterday. You can find a list of all the winners here.
But more importantly, they also had a Big Gig at the O2 dome at the same time as the award show (which was held in Indigo, the club inside the O2 dome). A mate from work offered me a ticket and I don't think I even hesitated 1/100 if a second. Line-up: The Cribs, The Klaxons, Bloc Party, The Kaiser Chiefs and the Manic Street Preachers.
So I missed the Cribs as my flight had a slight delay and I only saw two songs of the Manic Street Preachers as I had to get back home (no worries there, I heard Motorcycle emptiness...), but what a fantastic show the others put on!
I really like the Klaxons but more as a looking from the back enjoying the music kind of liking. For Bloc Party, we set in the rush to get to the front and made it to about row 3. What an energy, what a charisma and fucking good songs these guys have! Really enjoyed it (despite the beer flying everywhere and combat boots in my face from the crowd surfers).
And then... The Kaisers... Woow. I thought they were one of the best bands at Werchter last year (don't forget to buy your ticket for that as of tomorrow!). And after seeing them again last night from the front row (ok, only for 10 seconds as the old lady with the horrrible smell had one nasty elbow to kick me back a row), my mind has been made up: Ricky, I want your baby... Sorry Gabriel Rios, you had your chance but now I've moved on...
Great night!
